Ja’mar Barlow: A College Student

Close your eyes for a moment and just imagine the times when you were full of joy.

The times when you smile till your cheeks swell, a constant sound of giggles with the warmest feeling inside your hearts. Many may reflect on memories with others while a few found the missing piece of their uncertainties. The missing piece is usually a hobby we enjoyed, a skill we embraced, or even a hidden talent we had. Whatever it is that made your soul fill up with pure genuine happiness might just be your passion in life. The very thing you should focus on and in the words of Steve Harvey, focusing on your passion will bring you success and joy. Steve Harvey is a well-known comedian, tv host, public speaker, and more. One thing, I took from listening to one of his audios is the understanding of knowing yourself. Depending on your religion, the high power you believe in gifted us with our unique expertise, so it is designed within the universe for us to turn our passion into our lifestyle.

Let us keep that in mind.

Everyone embarks on their journey of self-discovery at separate times in one's life. Luckily for Ja’mar, he realized at a youthful age his passion for computers and electronics can become something more.

"Ever since I was a young child, I have had a growing fascination with all types of

technology. In my years of High School, I decided that I wanted to use my passion for

electronics and computers to design and create technology that will positively impact my

community and this world."- Ja'mar Barlow

Ja’mar Barlow is an African American man with Native American blood. He was born in North Carolina, lived in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and then migrated to Florida about seven years ago with his family. Ja’mar currently attends Valencia College with the hope of transferring to the University of Central Florida after receiving his associate degree. His goal is to receive a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science by the year 2025.

A typical memory a first-year student in college may have is the realization that juggling a heavy load is not always easy. The need for balance to be present when it comes to classes, work, social and personal life is so important. Ja'mar had his realization and decided for himself that his top priority will be his education. Attending classes on time to acing exams, he also plans to embrace the college social lifestyle. Ja'mar makes sure he has time to spend with his friends as well as join two or more clubs on campus.

If you ever meet Ja'mar, there will always be a sense of comfort with him. A space where you can be yourself, burst out in laughs, or have a serious conversation. Guess you can say he is a very likable person. His college experience will consist of joining a STEM club, a Black-African Culture club, and partaking in internships. Ja'mar may also have two more things he can do during his spare time like riding his skateboard or continuing his learning of Mandarin. Whatever it is, there is no doubt this new roller-coaster of a college experience will be for granted.

Ja'mar appreciates the new friendships he has in his life; they look after each other and create fun timeless memories while still learning daily. As he continues to look toward the future, he plans to utilize all the resources around him to graduate as a Computer Science major and obtain a job at a computer software company. Ja'mar intends to find the perfect computer software company that symbolizes his intentions. The company must design and build technology for the service and development of his community.

So, let us rewind a bit.

"It is designed within the universe for us to turn our passion into our lifestyle", a reasonable perspective. Ja'mar knew in his heart the love he has for electronics and computers as a child is what drew him into his area of expertise today. He is embracing his passion and interests which allows Ja'mar to achieve a higher level of happiness as well as a successful future. The overall great, inspiring moments might be the aftermath. Positive aftermath where Ja'mar gives back to his community.

A sense of growth, peace, and compassion.

And that is the drive every college student should have. Let your passion and interests influence your future. A future where you can be your true self, encounter pure happiness and success to even network with more compatible individuals.

" The advice I would like to give others is not to let other people discourage you from climbing to your goals and achievements. Do what feels right to you and don’t be afraid to ask for help because there are always supporters out there that can guide you along the way." - Ja'mar Barlow
